Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift: NFL Star Praises Her Bold Move to Reclaim Music Masters

KEY POINTS

  • Following Taylor Swift’s announcement of acquiring her music catalogue, Travis Kelce is backing her.
  • Shortly after Swift came out saying she now owns her masters, the NFL athlete “liked” her Instagram post on Friday, May 30.
  •  Swift stated in an emotional statement to her followers, “To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it.”

Amid Taylor Swift’s most recent professional turning point, Travis Kelce is expressing her love.

On Friday, May 30, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end 35 openly backed the pop sensation following her social media disclosure to fans that she now owns her masters.

On Swift’s most recent Instagram post, Kelce dropped a “like,” the same one meant to send followers to a notice on her website disclosing the ownership of her song catalogue.

According to a Kelce source this week, the nod from Kelce comes a week following Swift’s visit in Florida “to support and spend time” with her boyfriend as he practices for his next NFL season.

In the emotional message she put on her website, Swift said that she now owns all of the music she “ever made”.  The news comes almost six years after Swift’s first six albums were purchased by Scooter Braun, which sets off a series of well-publicized re-recordings.

Later Braun sold it to Shamrock Capital, a private equity company.

“I really am quite quiet about it, yet to say this is my dream come true.  To my fans, you know how important this has been to me — so much so that I painstakingly re-recorded and reissued 4 of my albums, calling them Taylor’s Version.

“I was able to buy back my music because of your enthusiastic backing of those albums and the success narrative you transformed the Eras Tour into.

I am very grateful for you assisting me to be reunited with the artwork I have devoted my life to but have never owned until recently.

“All I have ever wanted is the chance to work hard enough to be able to buy my music straight forwardly with no strings attached, no collaboration, with full sovereignty.

I will always be appreciative of everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first persons to ever present this to me,” she said.  “Their behaviour in every contact we have had has been honest, equitable, and kind.

For them, this was a business agreement; nevertheless, I truly felt as though they saw my memories, my sweat, my handwriting, my decades of dreams.”

A source familiar to contract discussions told PEOPLE on Friday that the entrepreneur was not involved even though a previous article said Braun pushed Shamrock to make the deal.

Unlike a past bogus report, no outside entity “encouraged” this sale.  The insider claimed all appropriate credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s management team based in Nashville solely.

“Today Taylor owns all of her music; this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”

Braun’s business Ithaca Holdings originally purchased Swift’s catalogue in June 2019; the acquisition comprised the masters to Swift’s first six albums, recorded under her contract to Big Machine Records.

Swift has worked to re-record her first six albums in order to take custody of the masters in the years since.

She originally debuted Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, then followed with fresh Red, 1989, and Speak Now iterations.

Swift also addressed what fans should expect in terms of re-recordings of Reputation and her self-titled debut album—the only two releases she hasn’t yet issued. She was revealing the ownership news.

“I do know, I do know.  And then what about Rep TV?  Complete transparency: I have not even rerecorded a fifth of it.

The Reputation album was so particular to that period of my life, and when I tried to recreate it I kept running across a halting point.

All that defiance, that wanting to be understood while feeling purposefully misinterpreted, that frantic hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief,” Swift said in her note.

“To be really honest, redoing that album is the only one of those first six that I felt couldn’t be improved upon.

Not the movies, pictures, or music either.  I so kept postponing it.  If you’re interested in the concept, there will be a period when the unreleased vault tracks from that album hatch.

She said: “I truly adore how it sounds today; I have already totally rerecorded my debut album.  If it would be something you people would be interested in, those two albums still have moments to re-emerge when the time is perfect.

If it does, though, it won’t be from a position of desiring for what I wish I could have.  It will simply be a celebration now.
