More About Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow First Look
The first poster for Supergirl just dropped, and it comes right after Milly Alcock flew into the spotlight as the Girl of Steel in Superman last weekend.
Where Kal-El had the motto “Look Up” when he opened the new DC Universe, Kara flips it around to “Look Out.” Given the sneak peek weve seen, that tagline feels spot-on.
In the final scene of Superman a tipsy Supergirl arrives at the Fortress of Solitude to snag her pup, Krypto. She leaves almost as fast as she came, with Kal-El telling Gary, the friendly Superman robot, that Kara loves drinking on planets with a red sun. That way, their slower metabolism lets them enjoy the buzz without Earths sunlight ruining the fun.
Speaking with Screen Rant James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, teased even more surprises fans can look forward to in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
“She’s a mess. A total mess,” he joked, shaking his head. “Seriously, if you look at her past, it’s worlds apart from Superman. He grew up in a happy, healthy home with two parents who adored him. She did not have anything like that. Because of that, she turned out very, very different from her cousin.”
Just last month, Gunn was asked how deeply Kara Zor-Els early life on Krypton will be shown in her solo movie.
Flashbacks to Krypton are always on the table, but for me those scenes reveal how different Clark and Kara really are. Clark had loving parents, a laid-back childhood, and that makes him, honestly, the least messed-up hero in the bunch.
Supergirl, especially the DCU version, is the opposite. She’s been through the wringer, Gunn joked. Her story comes straight from the comics where she watched person after person die as her piece of Krypton broke apart.
In Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, Kara sets out on a wild birthday road trip with Krypto the Super-Dog. Instead of cake and candles, she ends up helping a girl named Ruthye hunt down the people who hurt her.
Milly Alcock plays Supergirl, Eve Ridley is Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts portrays Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Jason Momoa shows up as Lobo. David Krumholtz voices Zor-El and Emily Beecham is Alura In-Ze. Craig Gillespie directs, with the script coming from Ana Nogueira.

A new behind-the-scenes photo gives fans their clearest peek yet at Milly Alcock in full Supergirl gear. Dropped around the same time as the release window for *Superman* (2025), the shot shows off her costume before the character goes solo in Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow.

The pic first posted by hairstyling co-head Lindsay McAllister on Instagram shows Alcock standing in the Fortress of Solitude, the icy palace that House El calls home. Though McAllister later took the snap down, it has already made the rounds online.
According to “Yahoo“Alcock’s brief scene marks the first time both Superman and Supergirl share live-action film space. Kara, a little tipsy, swoops in to collect Krypto, Superman’s loyal dog. Their playful exchange sets up the new cinematic family of Kryptonians.
The actual *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* movie centers on Alcock and hits theaters June 26, 2026. In the leaked photo her suit nearly matches David Corenswet’s blue and red look. That matching vibe hints at a single design language for Kryptonians in the fresh DC Universe.
James Gunn has said that Sasha Calle’s take on Supergirl draws from the graphic novel *Woman of Tomorrow* by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. He called her version “much more hard-core” and noted that Kara grew up very differently than Clark Kent.
According to “MSN“We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, raised on a rock.
Right now, production on the Supergirl movie is rolling at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with Craig Gillespie in the director’s chair and Ana Nogueira writing the script. Her story kicks off in *Superman* and then sets the stage for the solo film due next year.
