More About Santa Monica Shooting
The Santa Monica Police Department is looking for a suspect right now after a shooting this afternoon that hurt one officer.
Police from several departments are responding to an ongoing situation at Santa Monica Place, which has been evacuated and streets are closed within two blocks of the mall. According to the police, the injured officer was sent to a nearby hospital for care. It wasn’t clear right away how badly the cop was hurt.
Mayor Lana Negrete said, “This was an officer-involved shooting, and we can confirm that an officer was shot.” “I want to see the officer at UCLA as soon as the medical team says it’s okay.” Negrete claimed that the city is using all of its efforts to catch the culprit.
She replied, humbly, “We’re using every tool we have, including new technology andattle and all available personnel on the ground, corresponded to in the field to catch the suspect.” “Please stay away from downtown and respect the police perimeter.”
Police are requesting people to stay Rodger’s Place at 4th Street and Colorado Avenue to give emergency workers time to respond safely and quickly. The suspect is still on the loose while a planned search goes on.
The mayor told people to sign up for the city’s emergency alert system by texting SMAlerts to 888-777 so they could stay up to date.
