Minnesota shootings suspect was a doomsday prepper FBI says
A doomsday “prepper” was the suspect who is accused of carrying out a gun spree last week that resulted in the deaths of a congresswoman from Minnesota and her husband, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Vance Boelter, the wife of the accused, told investigators that the family was part of a small group of Americans who “prepare for major or catastrophic incidents,” according to a document filed in court.
Boelter, who is sixty-seven years old, has been accused with the murder of Democratic House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, on the previous Saturday.
The Democratic state senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were both gravely injured as a result of his actions. There is indications that he was preparing to target additional people, according to the police.

Mr. Boelter was apprehended by law enforcement on Sunday, following a manhunt that lasted for two days.
Several hours after the shootings, his wife was confronted by law enforcement during a traffic check. In accordance with the findings of the investigation, she was taking their four children to stay with friends.
According to the documents, Jenny Boelter reported to the authorities that her spouse had sent her a message giving her the advice that she should run away.
“The text stated something to the effect that they should prepare for war, they needed to get out of the house, and people with guns may be showing up to the house,” wrote FBI agent Terry Getsch in an affidavit distributed on Friday. “The text also stated that they needed to get out of the house.”
The contents of her vehicle included two firearms, around ten thousand dollars in cash, and passports. Mrs. Boelter has not been accused of committing any criminal offense.
Her spouse, she said, had provided her with a “bailout plan” that outlined what she should do in the event that she ever needed to escape the house.
Mrs. Boelter further stated that her husband had a business partner in the state of Washington, which is located in the northwest of the United States, and that the two of them operated a security company and a “fishing outfit” in Congo, Africa, under the name “Red Lion.”
The shootings have been described as a “act of targeted political violence” by the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Mr. Boetler allegedly submitted a letter to the FBI that was both rambling and incoherent. In the letter, he stated that the governor of the state had ordered him to assassinate Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar as part of a suspected scheme for Walz to seize Klobuchar’s seat in the Senate.
It is not possible to find any evidence of such a plot.
