Eric Dane is undergoing his first sit-down interview following disclosure of his ALS diagnosis. Speaking on his health with Diane Sawyer, the 52-year-old actor showed up in a teaser clip for an upcoming Good Morning America program on Thursday, June 12.

Every day when he wakes up, he informed Sawyer, he is instantly aware that this is happening. “It’s not a dream.” In the 30-second video, Dane and Sawyer are shown clasping hands as they discuss life after diagnosis.

It finishes with the Euphoria star crying and displaying a hint of the emotional nature of the conversation. “I doubt this marks the end of my narrative. I do not feel as though this marks the end of me.

Denmark first shared his ALS diagnosis only with PEOPLE in April. He said, “I have been diagnosed with ALS.” “I am appreciative of my loving family at my side as we negotiate this next chapter.”

The actor is wed to Rebecca Gayheart; the pair has two children, 13-year-old Georgia Geraldine and 15-year-old Billie Beatrice.

“I respectfully ask that you keep my family and me private during this period.” Rare degenerative disease ALS, sometimes known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, causes progressive muscular paralysis. Usually first experiencing limb twitching or paralysis, patients thereafter have impaired speech.

Patients gradually lose their capacity to speak, eat, walk, and breathe independently, according to the Mayo Clinic, since the disease damages the nerve cells in the brain and spine that regulate muscular action.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association reports that patients typically live three to five years following diagnosis; ALS has no treatment. Some patients, meanwhile, can survive decades.

The roles of sexy surgeon “McSteamy,” also known as Dr. Mark Sloan, on ” Grey’s Anatomy” from 2006 to 2012 and Cal Jacobs, whose conflicted sexuality and coiled anger make the case that problems don’t go away when you graduate high school, have otherwise defined Dane’s career.

Denmark revealed in April that he has ALS; he is still working on “Euphoria.” Denmark spoke with Variety in a Zoom conference late in May. Why did you say yes to this job? It always depends on the content; the show had personality, hence I assumed the writing had an easy tempo.

But then, it’s in Los Angeles; practically, I couldn’t say no to it. Eric Dane on “Countdown,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Euphoria” Season 3: “I Never Considered Myself an Artist Until I Started Making “Euphoria”.” Eric Denmark is getting ready for a fresh assignment.

It’s always based on the content; the show had personality, hence I assumed the writing had an easy flow. But then, it’s in Los Angeles; practically, I couldn’t say no to.

You’re often cast as authority figures. Did it take time to gain the gravitas and authority to do roles like these?

In actual life, I am not like that. I carry nothing with me that relates to this. It’s just something I do. But that seems to come rather naturally to me.

I try to play against the beats that one hundred other performers would follow. There need to be some humor involved. Every leader I have come to appreciate has a fantastic sense of humor.
