Caitlin Clark AndAngel Reese!
Caitlin Clark had an eventful first game of the season on Saturday. She got her third triple-double in the WNBA and was given a flagrant foul for shoving Angel Reese, a longtime foe. The Indiana Fever easily beat the Chicago Sky 93-58.
The Fever were ahead 56–42 with 4:38 left in the third quarter. Reese grabbed an offensive rebound and was moving to the basket when Clark hit her hard with her right arm, sending the Sky to the ground and the ball rolling away.
After clearly being upset, Reese got back up and tried to talk to the 2024 Rookie of the Year. The winner turned around and walked away, but Indiana’s Aliyah Boston stepped in between them. Caitlin Clark foul went from a personal to a flagrant 1, and both Reese and Boston were given technical fouls.
Clark said later, “Let’s not make it something it’s not.” “That was a nice basketball play.” What did the ref see that made them give it a better grade? After seeing what happened during the play and then what happened after, that’s up to them to decide.
She also said, “It’s a take foul to put them at the free throw line.” “I wasn’t meaning to do anything bad.” I’m not that kind of player.
Stephanie White,Caitlin Clark new head coach, was on her side. White is starting her second term in the job after leaving in 2016.
If Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are rivals, she says, “I’ll play the bad guy.”

White said, “Nobody is going to get anything easy against us.” “Our defense is going to be strong.” I also thought it was a clear play on the ball. Reese, on the other hand, didn’t want to talk about what happened.
To play basketball. Referees got it right. “Move on,” she told the press after the game. A follow-up question was cut off by a team spokesman who said Reese had already talked about it.
Their long-running rivalry began when Reese’s LSU beat Caitlin Clark Iowa for the national title in 2022–2033. It continued when Clark won the rematch in 2024 in front of 12.3 million TV viewers.
In their first seasons in the WNBA, they played each other four times last year, with the Fever winning three of those games. All but one of the 67 votes went to Clark for Rookie of the Year. The other vote went to Reese.
However, both players have played down the competition, and their fans often speak out against the other player.
Clark had a game-high 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. It was her third triple-double of the season, following her 17-point performance at Iowa. She also had the most blocks in her career with four.
For Indiana, Boston scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. For Chicago, Reese scored 12 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and gave out one assist.
Dewanna Bonner, who signed with the Fever over the off-season, scored seven points in the game. With 7,489 points, she moved ahead of Tina Thompson and into third place on the WNBA’s all-time list of top scorers.
Only Tina Charles (7,696) and Diana Taurasi (10,646), who used to play for the Phoenix Mercury, have more.
“I got a little emotional.” “It’s pretty special to me to be here now, in front of a packed house and all this attention,” Bonner said.
“Being there for so long makes me feel like I earned that moment.” It had to happen right then and there, at that point in my career… I’m so thankful.
Caitlin Clark fouled Reese, and the Sky forward made one of her free throws. Courtney Vandersloot then made a layup, which pulled Chicago within 11 points of Indiana.
