Amber Heard is set to light up the Williamstown Theatre Festival stage this summer with Jeremy O. Harris new play Spirit of the People.

Amber Heard is jumping back into theater and having fun with her actor pals.
The 39-year-old star showed up for pictures with her castmates at the Massachusetts fest, where her show will take over the MainStage Theatre later in the season.
In a fresh Vogue spread, Heard-smiling and relaxed beside three-week-old twin babies, looked at the camera while lying on the grass. Hunter Abrams and Sam Lee shot the images deep in the nearby woods.
Also in the shoot were Pamela Anderson, Whitney Peak, William Jackson Harper, and Chris Messina, all appearing at the festival.
Harris, a leader of the seasons Creative Collective, summed up the good vibe for Vogue by quoting Tennessee Williams, whose work will get extra love this year.
“In an interview with Jason Grissom, [Williams] once said, ‘There’s magic in those woods,’ and that’s the line that buzzes around my mind every day I’ve wandered through the quiet green paths here near Williamstown,” Harris, 36, says on a sunny afternoon. “He was right: there is a magic to the madness of making theatre out here, and it has infected all of us this summer.”
“Maybe it’s the giddy theatre-camp-for-adults energy, or maybe it’s the fresh courage so many new artists-Katina Medina Mora directing Spirit of the People, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Whitney Peak, Amber Heard in the same show, and a long list of others – have kicked up; they’re not just keeping pace, they’re setting a beat,” he hums with genuine wonder as rehearsals thrum in the background.

“I’m in awe of this crew, people I’d stare at wide-eyed even if I’d stepped into the audience, and I really hope their wild, raw art breaks your heart a little and then gives you something you can really chew on as we plunge headlong into this tricky moment in American history.”
The festival’s slate rounds out with Not About Nightingales, Camino Real, and The Gig: After Moise and the World of Reason.
Amber Heard first hinted that shed be part of the Williamstown Theatre Festival and Harris new show back in June, when the cast list landed online. Along with Heard, Brandon Flynn and Lío Mehiel were named, and the festival soon added Ato Blankson-Wood, Zachary Booth, James Cusati-Moyer, Amandla Jahava, Emma Ramos, Julian Sanchez, and Tonatiuh to the lineup.
Since then Heard posted a cheerful selfie with Harris on Instagram, saying shes in her theatre era. Earlier this month she uploaded another photo of herself rehearsing, calling it a work in progress.
According to the Williamstown site, she will play Genevieve in Spirit of the People. Its her first role in a live show since 2023, following films like In the Fire and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
The stage debut comes three years after her high-profile court fights with ex-husband Johnny Depp wrapped in 2022 and just a few months after she announced on May 11 that twin babies Agnes and Ocean were born.
When I welcomed my first daughter Oonagh four years ago, my whole world flipped upside down, Heard said on Instagram back then. I honestly thought there was no room left for more happiness. Yet here I am, bursting with joy times three! Becoming the only parent and doing it the way I wanted, all while facing my own fertility ups and downs, has humbled me more than anything else.
I am forever thankful I got to make this choice carefully and with love.
