Aaron Rodgers, the new quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has disclosed that he was married in secret earlier this year.

Before agreeing to a one-year contract with the Steelers, the four-time NFL MVP gave his future some serious thought.

On Saturday, Rodgers signed his contract. The team shared a photo of him on social media, showing him wearing a black band on his wedding ring finger.

One of the final questions the 41-year-old fielded during his press conference on Tuesday following his first training day with the Steelers concerned the ring.

“Yeah, it’s a wedding ring,” Rodgers said. He continued, when asked how long he had been married, “It’s been a couple of months.” After a dismal second season with the New York Jets, Rodgers was cut loose, making him a free agent for the first time in his 20-year career.

In April, Rodgers stated that he was “open to anything,” including retirement, despite having visited the Steelers and reportedly receiving an offer from the New York Giants.

Prior to Tuesday’s press conference, the 2011 Super Bowl champion stated, “I was dealing with a lot of things in my personal life,” refuting his prior claim that he postponed his choice for personal reasons.

“A few things got a little better, and I felt like I could give the boys my whole attention. “I didn’t want to undercut the boys by getting signed but being physically or emotionally somewhere else. I had to take care of my business before I could come here and give it my best.”

Throughout his NFL career, Rodgers, who played for the Green Bay Packers for the first eighteen years, has had several well-known partners. However, he has never been married before, and on Tuesday, he provided no other details about his wife.

When talking about Christmas shopping on The Pat McAfee Show in December, he mentioned that he had a girlfriend called Brittani.

“Not Britney Spears, no,” Rodgers said in response to a joke from one of the co-hosts about whether it was the singer. The ‘i’ here is Brittani.

Rodgers said that he is “in a serious relationship” when he spoke to Pat McAfee once again in April. “I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention,” he stated.

 “I have personal commitments I made, not knowing what my future was going to look like after last year, that are important to me.”

A wedding, and possibly a honeymoon as well, appears to have been one of those commitments.

What else did Rodgers say on first day?

Rodgers has stated that he kept in close communication with head coach Mike Tomlin during his visit to the Steelers before telling him of his choice.

The 53-year-old has been the head coach of Pittsburgh since 2007, making him the longest-serving current head coach in the NFL.

Before losing the championship game to Rodgers’ Packers in 2011, he guided the team to its sixth Super Bowl victory in 2009.

In Tomlin’s eighteen seasons as head coach, the Steelers have never had a losing record. “It starts with Mike Tomlin,” Rodgers remarked when asked why he selected Pittsburgh.

His music has long been a favorite of mine.

“I had no other choice when I was going through my personal belongings because of the rapport that developed between Mike and me. Play [retire] or not, it was here.

The only player to win more NFL MVP awards than Rodgers is Peyton Manning (five), but he has failed to win a second Super Bowl.

“It would mean a seventh championship for the city,” Rodgers responded when asked what a Super Bowl victory with Pittsburgh would entail.

That would be fantastic. “I have a lot that motivates me, but this is about the love for the game—a game that has given me so much over the years—and making peace with a nice, long career.”
